» CHARACTER INFORMATION
Character NAME: Lancelot du Lac
Canon & MEDIUM: Witch Hunter; manga
Canon PULL-POINT: He will be coming in right after he escaped with Guinevere from Britain.
Character AGE: 40 (However, he stopped physically aging at 24)
Character ABILITIES:
Lancelot is a "Supporter", which is essentially a servant to a Witch. The contract shared between the Witch and the Supporter strengthens the both of them, and the Witch's life and mana provide skills to the Supporter they would not have normally (such as speed and strength). However, Lancelot is a special case in two ways: He is a human Supporter, and he has surpassed the strength of his master (Guinevere). By surpassing her, he broke their contract and is therefore no longer required to obey her every command like a normal Supporter. However, the connection still remains, as he can tap into her power to boost his own skills. (He won't be able to do this in Exsilium, since it's very unlikely we'll get a Guinevere.) Many of his skills have yet to be seen in canon, but he can move much faster than a regular human, and is extremely skilled at swordplay (the most skilled of any human in his world, presumably). He is also capable of sensing other people's presences from far away (though no range is specified, it seems to extend at least several hundred feet, if not more).

Character HISTORY:

Lancelot's childhood is not detailed in canon, but it is known that he became a Knight of the Round Table at a young age. He served King Arthur faithfully for many years, and they became close friends. It has been implied heavily that somewhere during his time serving Arthur he fell in love with his daughter, Mordred, and they may have had some sort of secret affair.

However, his time of service for Arthur came to an end when his wife, Guinevere, was tried and found guilty of witchcraft. She was to be executed, but Lancelot could not bear to see the Pendragons fall apart in this way. So he broke in to Arthur's chambers and together they plotted a way to save Guinevere. Eventually, they decided that Lancelot would pretend to betray Arthur by kidnapping Guinevere before her sentence was to be carried out, leaving Camelot forever with her in order to save her life. Of course, he did not want to leave Camelot, but there was no other choice, and he would do anything Arthur commanded of him.

Many years passed, and somewhere in this time, Lancelot became the Supporter of Guinevere, using their contract to protect her and keep her hidden and safe. He also fell into a "bad crowd" of sorts -- a group of evil Witches commanded by the witches South and North. Their plan is to destroy all of humankind. Whether or not Lancelot agrees with or condones this plan is unclear. It is likely that the treatment of Guinevere inspired a hatred in him of people and he is now cooperating to create a world where she will be accepted and no longer have to hide. He may also simply be using the Witches to keep Guinevere alive until he is able to find Mordred and re-establish Camelot without Arthur.

And, eventually, he does find her, sixteen years after his escape. In a coordinated attack on a train occupied by Witch Hunters, Lancelot happens upon a Witch Hunter named Tasha and his Supporter, Halloween. However, he immediately recognizes Halloween as her true self -- Mordred -- and gets down on one knee to bow to her, as he now considers her his King. He observes that her power has been weakened significantly from the time they last met, due to her new contract with Tasha. Tasha is unwilling to let her go -- so for the time being, he retreats, saying he'll be back to see Mordred again. Though he is uncomfortable with the idea of letting her roam around through potential danger, he does not seem to have a choice.

He reappears again later when Tasha and Mordred come to Britain. He purposely lures Tasha out to fight with him, taking advantage of his already wounded state to overpower him so that he would have to call his Supporter (aka, Mordred). After a scuffle, Lancelot cuts off Tasha's arm, disconnecting him from his Supporter. Mordred notices immediately, and makes her way to go back to Tasha -- however, on the way, she runs into Guinevere (her mother, though she can't remember her). Guinevere hugs her, and though she cannot recall why, she suddenly feels overjoyed and begins to cry. Lancelot meets up with the two, and observes that even though her memories haven't returned, her body still remembers her mother.

He then pulls Tasha's severed arm from his cloak and throws it to the ground in front of her, stating that he "cut it off himself". Mordred gets angry and attacks, and Lancelot stops her, stating that without the mana flow from Tasha, there is no way he'll be able to even touch him, let alone defeat him. Tasha re-appears to fight him off, but is distracted by Mordred. The two of them have a big (verbal) fight, which Lancelot allows to happen because it works right into his and Guinevere's plan. Tasha is angry enough with Mordred that he tells her he doesn't need her as a Supporter anymore, which absolutely crushes her. Lancelot takes this opportunity to comfort her, covering her face so no one will see her cry.

Since Tasha has left her, Guinevere casts a spell called "The Egg of Beginning", which is supposed to cancel all contracts and seals on the target. This would, effectively, return Mordred to her original state, if the spell reached completion. However, Tasha returns, realizing he was worried about her, and he tries to fight Lancelot off. Tasha insinuates that Lancelot is only so insistent on her having her memories back because Mordred once loved him, like she does Tasha now. This angers Lancelot, and he stabs Tasha through the shoulder, berating him for playing with Mordred's memories and calling her his property. Tasha shoots Lancelot point-blank with his gun and sends him flying, before calling for Halloween to come back to him. Their bond is strong enough that is actually breaks the Egg of Beginning, and she returns to him. Lancelot decides he has no choice but to kill Tasha to sever the contract between them that way, since it is too strong to be broken by Guinevere's spell.

Halloween steps in front of Tasha to defend him, and just before she and Lancelot are to face off, they are interrupted by another Witch Hunter named Tania. She attempts to attack Guinevere, who is incapable of defending herself. He berates Tania for her dirty fighting, and she uses a huge attack to attempt to wipe them out. However, Lancelot is able to dodge the attack and goes to escape with Guinevere.

As he attempts to escape, he is confronted by a former Knight of the Round Table, Gawain. He asks Lancelot to rejoin the Knights, despite his betrayal.

Character PERSONALITY:

There doesn't appear to be much to Lancelot on the surface. He shows next to no emotion on his face, usually preferring a blank, serious expression. He's rarely wordy, kind of mysterious, has a dorky hobby of writing poetry, and is awfully anti-social. However, this is just what he shows to others who don't know him, those who don't bother to get to know him. In truth, he is much more than that.

The most important thing about Lancelot's personality is that he absolutely despises himself. There is almost nothing about himself that he finds to be satisfactory or good. As such, he lives to serve other people -- though those "other people" are limited. His ultimate role model is King Arthur, the King he served as a knight and will continue to serve although he has been dead for many years now. Arthur exemplifies all the things that Lancelot idealizes: chivalrous, strong, charismatic, kind, firm. Lancelot feels he is none of these things -- but he can help someone who is by protecting them and carrying out their commands. The Pendragon family in general is the ultimate (and only) source of true authority to him. Anything a Pendragon tells him is automatically prioritized above everything else.

Lancelot highly values chivalry, and as such he treats (most) other people with some degree of respect and civility in ordinary situations. He is also quick to help others in need when he can, and is actually very kind in that respect -- he expects nothing in return for his deeds and does not brag about his accomplishments. Loyalty and devotion are also important traits of Lancelot's personality. Though it may be difficult to earn his friendship, one he considers you a friend, he would protect you with his own life. He generally prefers not to directly fight unless there is no other choice -- he is skilled enough that often parrying and defending is enough to wear the enemy down or allow him to escape.

However, there is a much darker side to Lancelot's personality as well. He highly values the idea of the means not mattering as long as the ends are accomplished. He will stop at nothing to accomplish his goals, even if it means that others get hurt or people are used in horrible ways. For example, he let the fight between Mordred and Tasha happen without interference, despite knowing that it would horribly hurt her emotionally, in order to get her to come to him for comfort and use the Egg of Beginning on her. He will stop at nothing to accomplish the goals he has been given by the Pendragons, and to keep the Pendragons in power/on the throne in his own world. This means a lot of manipulating and killing/injuring on his part, but he thinks nothing of it, so long as it is for the royal family.

He is also prone to extreme jealousy, which can even lead to violence. For example, when he met Mordred again and Tasha taunted him because Mordred was not in love with Lancelot anymore, and was in love with him instead -- Lancelot immediately stabbed him, going on the offensive with the intent to kill. And if that wasn't bad enough, he actually holds on to the guy's arm after cutting it off previously and presents it to Mordred herself, to show her that he's defeated him. He can be over the top vicious when confronted with a person he despises. His stoic outward appearance disguises a surprisingly massive amount of hatred, anger, and self-loathing.

He's a very serious person overall, and has little to no sense of humor. Though he doesn't often verbalize his thoughts, he can be very poetic and has a way with words. As an introvert and a loner, though, he almost never vocalizes much of this, instead preferring to write poetry in a little notebook he keeps with him.

Some important characters he's seen interacting with are as follows:

Arthur Pendragon, King of Camelot. As mentioned above, Arthur is his King as well as his friend. When Arthur was still alive, Lancelot was his most treasured knight, and together they worked to formulate a plan to save Guinevere, his wife, when she was to be executed for witchcraft.

Guinevere, former Queen of Camelot. She is his Master, and he will go to any length to protect her -- even "betray" his own King. It's unknown why or how Guinevere came to be in the state she is in, but she seems to have suffered some brain damage after leaving Camelot, as she is now incapable of real speech and is extremely childlike and primitive in her actions. He is protective over her and is disgusted by anyone who even attempts to attack her, considering her mental state (as he highly values chivalry and fairness in a fight).

Mordred, a daughter of Arthur and Guinevere. This is his most complicated relationship. It's been hinted at in canon that he may have been having an affair with her before he left Camelot with Guinevere. Now that Arthur is dead, he accepts her as the new ruler of Camelot … however, as Mordred has lost all her memories of her previous life before becoming a Supporter for Tasha, she considers him an enemy, as he's temporarily allied himself with witches, and Tasha is a Witch Hunter. He is determined to break her contract with Tasha in order to restore her memories of her previous life and allow her to take the throne. His motivation for this seems to be a mix of political and emotional, but since he's been searching for her for sixteen years only to find that she despises him, it's likely emotions take priority. They also apparently trained together in the art of the sword in the past.

Gawain, a former friend of his and a fellow Knight of the Round Table. Though it seems the two were good friends, Lancelot injured him during his escape, which resulted in him losing his right eye. Despite this, Gawain later asks Lancelot to be allies again, once he learns of Mordred's return. The two seem to respect each other's abilities, and injuring him was a last resort in order to escape with Guinevere.

Tasha, Mordred's current Master. He doesn't really know anything about Tasha, other than the fact that he is now Mordred's master, but he absolutely hates him for that fact alone. He can't stand the guy for his treatment of her, and he will stop at nothing -- even threatening to outright murder him -- to separate the two of them.

» EXSILIUM INFORMATION
Chosen WEAPON: A longsword; it's his usual/preferred weapon in canon so he'd likely pick it.
Chosen SKILLSET: While Lancelot is definitely a skilled fighter, he doesn't really get involved unless there's some personal motivation, like protecting someone he cares about/an innocent person or … very occasionally, he'll act out of malice/jealousy. He'll defend himself if attacked, but won't go on the offense unless he really has to. So he's more of a defender/protector than anything else.
